William D. Mitchell

William D. Mitchell, 78, Beavertown, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, in the emergency room at WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born Feb. 20, 1947, in Danville, a son of the late William F. And Betty A. (Shambach) Mitchell. 
Bill was a 1965 graduate of Middleburg High School. On Sept. 4, 1965, he married the former Linda K. Dietz, who survives.
Early in his life, he had worked at The Erdley Store in Beavertown, Beavertown Weaving Mill, Zimmer Homes in Selinsgrove, and Boise Cascade Manufacturing in Middleburg. He retired after a long employment with National Limestone Quarry, retiring as the plant manager.
He was a member of the Derr Rocks Hunting Camp and the Rescue Hose Company, Beavertown. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and trapping.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 60 years is a daughter, Lisa A. (James) Hoover; a grandson, Jared (Alesha) Hoover and two great-granddaughters, Ava and Lilian. 
A visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 20, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St. Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Kathy Mercado officiating. Burial will be in the Paxtonville Cemetery.
