Susanna Blowers Obituary

Susanna (Shaffer) Blowers was born on August 29, 1988, in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, to Nathan and Denise Shaffer. She grew up a preacher’s kid and from an early age was a blessing to her parents’ ministry. Her childhood was filled with church life, attending regular services and faithfully participating in God’s Missionary Youth Camp, Fellowship Camp, and Penn’s Creek Camp. As a young girl, Susanna loved animals, Southern Gospel music, cooking, and time spent with friends. She graduated from homeschool in 2006 and went on to attend Penn View Bible Institute, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies. During her college years, Susanna shared her musical talent as part of a girl’s trio called Heritage. Their ministry took them across the country and even internationally, with opportunities to sing and visit the Cayman Islands, Northern Ireland, and England. After college, Susanna moved to Ottawa, Kansas, where she worked at Pilgrim Bible Church and Academy for several years. In 2017, she returned to Beaver Springs, Pennsylvania, where she met Jason Blowers. Jason and Susanna were married on October 25, 2019. Susanna was employed by Almond Tree where she worked as an at-home caregiver, a Day Center caregiver, and as the administrative assistant. She also worked at Brookdale Grayson View where she was a caregiver to those in the facility. Susanna loved interacting with people and she left lasting impressions everywhere she went. In 2022, Susanna was diagnosed with lymphoma. For three years she faced her illness with courage, faith, and determination. On August 12, 2025, she peacefully entered Heaven’s joy, free from all of the pain and cares of this life. Susanna dearly loved her family, especially her seven nieces and nephews, with an eighth on the way. Though she never met her newest niece, she delighted in knowing the baby’s due date was close to her own birthday. She had a beautiful voice and frequently sang specials at Beavertown Church and Shiloh Church. Her hobbies included eating out, enjoying fancy coffee drinks, and lavishing affection on her nieces, nephews, and her beloved Cavachon dog, Fiona. Susanna had a great sense of humor and loved joking with all those she came in contact with, even in her difficult times. Susanna and Jason attended the Beavertown God’s Missionary Church, where she faithfully served as a children’s Sunday school teacher until her health no longer allowed. She volunteered often in the nursery, helped with Vacation Bible School, participated as an embedded actor in the Live Nativity at Middlecreek Farms, and assisted with God’s Missionary Kids Camp. She was preceded in death by her unborn child, Lee; her mother, Denise Shaffer; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Janice Jones; her paternal grandfather, Alvin Shaffer; her uncle, Steven Shaffer; and her aunt, Debbie Ziegler. Susanna’s life was a testimony of love for God, devotion to family, and service to others. She will be deeply missed, but her influence will live on in the countless lives she touched. She is survived by her husband, Jason Blowers; her father, Nathan (Doris) Shaffer; her brother, Solomon (Joanne) Shaffer; her nephews, Reagan, Lincoln, and Remington Shaffer; her nieces, Liberty and Israella Shaffer; her paternal grandmother, Ruth Shaffer; her parent in-laws, John (Elaine) Blowers, her sister-in-law, Karen (Scott) Hoffman, her brother-in-law, Levi (Haylee) Blowers; her niece, Alayna Blowers; and her nephew, Thane Blowers. The calling hours for Susanna Blowers will be at the Beavertown God's Missionary Church on Monday, August 18th, from 6-8 PM and on Tuesday, August 19th, from 9:30-10:45 AM. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM.
