Shirley M. Stroup

Shirley M. Stroup, 86, Liverpool, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Wellspan Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

She was born Feb. 2, 1940, in Loysville, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Howard) Sheriff.

On Dec. 24, 1958, she married Lester L. Stroup, who preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 2003.

Shirley enjoyed her flower gardens, crocheting blankets for her family and listening to her Christian radio every Sunday morning. Her children and grandchildren were her everything. She also found great joy in her kitty, Callie Mae.

Surviving are her two daughters, Wanda (Brian) Hile of Mount Pleasant Mills, Sharon Hile and her fiance, Dwayne Brady, of Milton; three sons, Darwin Stroup, Donald Stroup and his companion, Sharon Rauch, and Dennis Stroup and his wife, Audrey, all of Liverpool; grandchildren, Matthew and his wife, Caitlyn, Lonnie, Logan and his wife, Diana, Colten, Casey, Carley, ChristyJo; great-grandchildren, Nicolai, Avalynn, Brentley and Hudson; and one sister, Lucinda Sheesley and her husband, David, of Florence, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by a son, Palmer (Pike) Stroup; two brothers, William and John Sheriff; and one sister, Rhea Brooks.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Shirley’s caregivers over the years.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, March 10, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Christian Union Church, 5230 Route 204, Mount Pleasant Mills, followed by the funeral at 2, with pastors Daryl Kuhns and Marty Adams officiating.

Burial will be in the Richfield Union Cemetery.

Contributions to honor Shirley’s memory may be made to the Christian Union Church.
