It is with great sadness that the family of Sheralyn Joy Hess, of Freeburg, announces her passing on the 13th of February 2025, at the age of 65. She was born at Sunbury Hospital on Oct. 5, 1959, and lived a life filled with love, joy and kindness.
Sherry, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her.
Sherry is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Larry Hess; her daughters Michelle Krautheim (Bryan) of Selinsgrove, Ami Renninger-Boop (Steve) of Middleburg, Chrissy Baldwin (Matthew) of Marysville, and two stepdaughters, Dr. Angela Hess (George Johns) of Bloomsburg and Lara Poeppelmeier (Adam) of Chicago, IL. She is forever cherished by her 13 beloved grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Parker, Jaxon, Kathryn, Audrey, Liam, Avery, Kinsley, Benjamin, Thomas, Noah, Makenna, Sophie, and Emmette. Her memory lives on within her large family, including three brothers, Elroy, Leon and Timothy Sr. Showers, and one sister, Dee Swineford, in addition to many friends who will sadly miss her. She was preceded in death by her parents Leroy S. Showers and Sarah E. (Shaffer) Showers and her brother Norman Showers Sr.
There will be a celebration of her beautiful life at Paxtonville Church on Monday, Feb.17, 2025. The viewing will start at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11am. Burial will be at Chapman’s Chapel Cemetery in Port Trevorton. Join the family for a meal and fellowship at the Christ’s Christian Union Church Life Center in Port Trevorton shortly after burial service.
We will forever carry her memory in our hearts, and we ask that in lieu of flowers, please spend time telling and showing your loved ones how much you care.
Arrangements by Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
