Richard E. “Dick” Kuhns, 75, of Globe Mills, Middleburg, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 13, in the emergency room at WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital of Lewisburg.
He was born Dec. 11, 1950, in Lewisburg, a son of the late David D. and Mildred A. (Shambach) Kuhns. Dick was a 1968 graduate of West Snyder High School and a 1972 graduate of Shippensburg University, where he played soccer and was inducted into the university’s Sports Hall of Fame.
He was employed in the construction industry, which included longtime service in SEDA-COG. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and spending time at his cabin. He enjoyed sports with soccer being his game.
He participated in stocking fish for children and enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and he was an organ donor for Gift of Life.
He is survived by a sister, Julia M. Moyer; a niece, Marcia (Mike) Hubbert; a nephew, Tim Moyer; a brother-in-law Herbert Kratzer and two more generations of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Kratzer, and a brother-in-law, Galen Moyer; two nieces, Elizabeth and Cindy, and a nephew, David, and his faithful golden retriever, Zeus.
Services will be announced later. Private burial will be in Zion Church Cemetery, Middleburg.
