Rev. Norman W. Moyer, 100, formerly of Middleburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lewistown.
He was born Sept. 13, 1924, in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, son of the late Elihu B. And Elizabeth (Wisler) Moyer. Norman attended Hatfield schools. On March 18, 1945, he married the former Miriam D. Landis, who preceded him in death on June 6, 2010.
Norman farmed for more than 50 years and he had served also as pastor of the Thomas Mennonite Church in Hollsopple and the Boyers Mennonite Church in Middleburg. He had also served at the Area Agency on Aging, as a foster grandparent at the Children’s Center, and volunteered for Road to Recovery for cancer patients.
Norman enjoyed bowling and putting out a large garden from which he donated most of the produce to his family and friends.
Surviving are two sons, James Moyer and his significant other, Linda Hartman, of Kreamer, and Glenn (Evelyn) Moyer of Schellsburg; his former daughter-in-law, Phyllis Gingrich and her husband David; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Clyde Moyer in 1984; a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and John Klingler in 2018; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Moyer; a grandson Kevin Moyer; three brothers, Clarence, Durant and Ervin Moyer, and three sisters, Katie Robison, Isabelle Meyers and Ruth Wilbers.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 19, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Boyers Mennonite Church, Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with Pastors Matthew Schrag and David Gingrich officiating.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
