Raymond E. "Butch" Kratzer Jr.

Raymond E. "Butch" Kratzer Jr., 64, of Middleburg was born on Oct. 16 1960, in Sunbury, Pa. He was the son of Shirley Heim Kratzer and the late Raymond E. Kratzer Sr. On May 18, 2019, he married the love of his life Janice (Betsker) Fisher. He passed away suddenly on June 13, 2025, while attending races in Numidia.
He was currently employed at Bingaman and Son Trucking Middleburg. He has been a truck driver most of his life. His passion was drag racing. He has been working on his car along with his son William the last few years so he could race. He enjoyed camping and family vacations, especially cruises. He loved to watch his grandkids play sports and was proud of all of them. He also enjoyed family get togethers and spending time with his extended family. He loved listening to Blue Grass music. His dad and uncles, The Kratzer Brothers, would play and sing Blue Grass together when he was young.
He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Kreamer. He was a member of the Middleburg Moose, a life member of the Americus Fire Company and a member of the WDRA Racing Alliance.
He is survived by four sons and one daughter. Raymond Kratzer III, William Kratzer, Joseph and Devon Kratzer, Erika and Christopher Cherry, Ryan and Kassidy Kratzer; stepdaughter Heather Martin and stepson Brandon Fisher; grandchildren Kodey, Kerah, Landyn, Zoe, Aliyah, Kaleb, Mason, Tinly, Brooklyn, Clayton, Nixon and Spencer; great-grandchild Kaleo; siblings Bonnie and Rick Knarr, Diana and Perry Caris, Wilma White; sister-in-law Lynne Kratzer; brother-in-law, I. John Betsker Jr.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother Randy "Bo"Kratzer; sister Wanda Kratzer; grandson Kurtis Kratzer; step son-in-law Larry Martin; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Irvin and Shirley Betsker.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Kreamer followed by the funeral service at 11 with Rev. Elizabeth George officiating.
Burial will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to honor Raymond's memory made be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 623 Kreamer Ave., Middleburg, PA 17842 or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
