Ralph M. “Sonny” Romig Jr., age 74, of rural Middleburg, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, at his home.
He was born Jan. 8, 1952, in Penns Creek, a son of the late Ralph M. and Miriam M. (Bowersox) Romig Sr. In 1970, he married the former Dora F. Jordan, who survives.
He was employed for 47 years with Faylor-Middlecreek Construction, later New Enterprise. He was a member of the Penns Creek Volunteer Fire Company. Sonny enjoyed hunting and was an avid Nascar fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 55 years are two sisters, Barbara Sprenkle and Linda Lau; a half-sister, Marjorie Peck, and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Jarrett.
A viewing will be held on Monday, Feb. 2, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with Rev. Dwight Rine officiating.
Burial will be in the Zion Church Cemetery, Middleburg.
Contributions to honor Sonny’s memory may be made to the Penns Creek Volunteer Fire Company.
