Marilyn passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 In Tyrone, PA,
with her son by her side. She was born the daughter of Harry C. and Rachael R.
(Sides) Marks on November 26, 1938 in Highspire, PA.
Marilyn graduated from Central Dauphin High School in 1956 and the Harrisburg
Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She was a Registered Nurse and worked at
Susquehanna University, the Selinsgrove Center, and several local nursing homes.
She was a gifted pianist, an avid reader, and loved golfing trips with her husband,
Wayne.
She is survived by a son, Dr. James N. Marks of Paxtonville, a daughter, Selena M.
Updegraff of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Emily A. (Bryan) Wendt and Ascher J. Marks (his companion
Azucena Castro-Farfan) of Norristown; two great-grandchildren, Finn and Theo Wendt; and her three
beloved brothers, H. David (Lois) Marks of Lititz, Norman C. (Carol) Marks of Hummelstown, and J.
Timothy (Robin) Marks of Elverson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Wayne Herman, and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Marks.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 18 at 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill Street,
Middleburg, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with burial in the Paxtonville Cemetery located at
2575 Paxtonville Road immediately after. Arrangements by Hummel Funeral Home.
