Lewis Straub Obituary

Lewis Edward Straub passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Geisinger Medical Center, where he was a patient for 10 days.

He was born Nov. 12, 1941, in Beaver Township, a son of the late Keamer U. Straub and Mary S. (Kuhns) Straub. He was married on Aug. 24, 1963, to Judy D. Ewing, who survives.

Lewis was a 1959 graduate of West Snyder High School. Following graduation, he had an ice cream route for Raker’s Ice Cream out of Mechanicsburg, Pa.
After working a short while, he decided to join the military. During that time, he was stationed stateside as a Military Policeman in New York City for two years.

When he left the Army, he began working in sales and marketing. Through the years, his delivery routes covered most of Central Pa. into New York State. He worked for Interstate Brands (Dolly Madison), Nabisco for 25 years and W. A. Dehart for over 20 years when he retired at the age of 78.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 62 years are his three daughters and their spouses, Shelley and Daniel Knepp of Paxtonville, Michelle and Matthew Wilt of Danville and Cassandra and Michael Snook of Middleburg; one son, Chad Straub of Paxtonville; 13 grandchildren: Caitlin, Madison, Emma, Nathan and Anthony Straub, Colby, Austin and Katie, and Cameron Snook, Marcus and Kendra Wilt, Amanda and Derek Oberlin, Ty Knepp and Sarah Chich, Zachary and Allison Knepp, Jodi and Timothy Mee; 14 great-grandchildren and another little girl coming in June: Sophia, Cael and Maeve Oberlin, Theodore and Benjamin Snook, Kenadee Wilt, Bella and River Knepp, Emily Budli, Jonathan, Mason, Luke and Alex Mee. Lewis was Pop Pop to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and he loved them so much.

Lewis was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Hassinger, and three older brothers, Marvin, Keamer Straub Jr. and Kenneth.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Paul Kempa officiating, followed by military honors with Middlewest Veterans Honor Guard.

Burial will be private at the Paxtonville Cemetery.
