John W. “Swartzy” Swartz, 80, of Mt. Pleasant Mills, entered into rest on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on November 20, 1945, in Juniata County, a son of the late Moyer D. Swartz and Ruth M. (Schrader) Swartz. On July 27, 1968, he married the former Carol L. Willow, who survives. His passing breaks a marital union of 57 years.
He worked at Zimmerman Homes in Selinsgrove and later retired at Taylor Wharton in Harrisburg.
John loved hunting, fox calling, playing pool, and going to go-cart races. Sundays were a relaxing day for Nascar, Sunday meals, and spending time with family.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by three daughters, Wendy Swartz of Mt. Pleasant Mills, Jackie Lenig (Mark) of Middleburg, and Kathy Ebersole (Charles) of Shamokin Dam; eight grandchildren Katauna, Jade, Veronica, and Remington Lenig, Trevor Kerstetter, Damian, Charlie, and Tyler Ebersole; a bonus daughter and granddaughter Tanya Simpson and Sophia Simpson of Selinsgrove; and one brother Gene R. Swartz of Mt. Pleasant Mills.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Swartz.
A viewing will be held from 10-11 AM on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Aline United Methodist Church, 400 Aline Church Road, Mt. Pleasant Mills followed by the funeral service at 11 AM with Lay Leader Michele Feltman officiating.
Burial will be in the Aline Church Cemetery.
