In the arms of his loving wife, Frank Long entered into eternal rest on March 4, 2026 at his home in Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA.
He was born on June 14, 1942 in Sunbury to John O. and Ethel A. (Oswald) Long.
On August 20, 1966, he married the former Ruth Mae Rauch, celebrating more than 59 ½ years as partners in life.
He faithfully attended Daniels St. Thomas Church for 50 years, serving on the Cemetery Association and Board of Trustees.
In his younger years, he ran the streets of Sunbury, played softball, was a huge fan of any kind of races, and enjoyed hunting with his son and grandson, Tyler.
He was gifted at building and was able to fix mostly anything (except plumbing). He built the house in which he and Ruth raised their family and lived for 50 years. He was a mason by trade, prompting his 1970’s CB handle “Brick Layer.”
After his retirement from Wood Mode, he operated Pap Pete’s Hauling.
He is survived by his wife, children Kathy (Mike) Kratzer, Jean (Tim) Toth, Todd (Angelica) Long, his grandchildren, Timothy Toth Jr. (Sophie), Kristen Kratzer (Rob), Sarah Mae Toth, Tyler Long (Jasmine), Thomas Toth, and the sparkle in his eye, great-grandson, Matthew Edward Toth, sister Betty Zellers Meiser, brother Leonard Long and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, John J. Long, Mary Moyer, Evelyn Hulsizer, Amy Zellers, Thomas Long, Shirley Long and Robert Long.
From the mouth of one of his surgeons, “Frank was tough as nails and believed in Jesus.” He battled five different kinds of cancer and never complained once.
A viewing will be held Monday, March 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor Wayne Hummel officiating.
Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Mills.
