Frances J. VanKirk, 81, of Middleburg, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
She was born June 2, 1944, in Middleburg, a daughter of the late George Smith and Annabelle (Specht) Smith Baker. Frances was married to William R. VanKirk who preceded her in death in 2003.
She had been employed at Middleburg Yarn for 43 years until her retirement. She was a member of Hummels Church, Middleburg. Frances enjoyed dining out and going to breakfast with her church friends. Family gatherings were always special to her. Her greatest joy was her grandson, Brandon.
Surviving is a daughter, Brenda K. (Donald Jr.) Lepley; a son, Jason W. VanKirk and his companion Beth; grandson Brandon Lepley and his fiancée Molly, and a sister Eleanor Walter.
She was preceded in death in addition to her husband by a brother, Kenneth Smith, and her stepfather Arvin Baker.
Viewing will be held on Monday, Sept. 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Hummels Church, 427 Sassafrass Road, Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with Pastor Steve Smith officiating.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
