Doyle H. Kratzer Jr., 86, Middleburg,
Doyle H. Kratzer Jr., 86, of Middleburg, passed away on Sunday, May 25, at his home. He was born July 18, 1938, in McClure, a son of the late Doyle H. Sr. and Hazel (Bingaman) Kratzer. Doyle was an independent operator truck driver and had later in life operated Kratzer’s Furniture Stores.
He enjoyed playing video poker games, hunting and enjoyed spending time and socializing at Ebright’s Garage in Middleburg. His passion was bluegrass music and he played in the family bluegrass band and especially loved Christian bluegrass. His greatest joy in life came from his family.
Surviving are two daughters, Wanda (Floyd) Ettinger of Middleburg and Brenda Kratzer of Kreamer; one son, Steven (Jennifer) Kratzer of Winfield; nine grandchildren, Breana Kratzer, Alyssa Kratzer, Michael (Phyllis) Shaffer, Nicole Ettinger, Kayla Ettinger, Nicholas Garman and Joshua Garman, Jody Bowersox, and Roger Bowersox Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Bow and Isla, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Roger Bowersox; two sisters Gloria Willow and Lora Jean Kratzer; four brothers, Richard, Marvin Raymond and Clifford Kratzer;
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, May 30, at 10 a.m. at Zion Church Cemetery, Middleburg, with Rev. Cameron Going officiating.
Arrangements are by Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill Street, Middleburg.
