Donald E. “Donnie” Kratzer, 76, of Route 235 Beaver Springs (Troxelville) passed away at 12:36 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born on April 13, 1949, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Ernest G. and Mary G. (Romig) Kratzer-Madenford. On May 4, 1969, he married the former Dianne K. Herman, who passed away on March 14, 2025.
Donald was a 1967 graduate of West Snyder High School and after graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served during the Vietnam War.
Donnie had been employed at Ritz-Craft, Wood-Mode, Conestoga Wood Products, Remmey Pallet Co., and Empire Kosher Poultry (Mattern’s Hatchery). For many years he enjoyed providing transportation for the Amish and Mennonites. Donnie enjoyed hunting, yard-saling, fixing bicycles in his spare time and dining out with friends.
Surviving are a sister Lisa Markel of Middleburg; sister-in-law Gladys Jamison of Mifflinburg; two brothers-in-law Lee Hollenbach Sr. of Beavertown and John Gemberling of Millmont; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was especially close to his cousin Winifred Hinkle of Holley, N.Y., and will be missed by his dog Lindsay.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters in infancy; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dorothy and Clarion “Pete” Miller Sr.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Hollenbach and Trena Gemberling, and a brother-in-law William Jamison.
At Donnie’s request, services will be private.
