Connie Lou VanHorn, 86, formerly of New Berlin, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Wellspan Evangelical Community Hospital, after a long battle with MS. She resided at Oak Glen Nursing Home prior to her death.
A native of Union County, she was born May 26, 1939, a daughter of Ivan G and Florence (Solomon) Miller. In addition to her husband William VanHorn, of 61 years, who survives and resides at Celebration Villa, Lewisburg, she is survived by son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Sonia VanHorn of Boalsburg, PA, and daughter and son-in-law Ann (VanHorn) and Michael Foster of Rock Hill, SC; one granddaughter Kelsey VanHorn, and four grandsons: Justin Felmey, Trevor Felmey, Derek VanHorn, and Adam VanHorn, and great grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law Susan and Tony Soloman, sisters-in-law Dharlys (Dolly) Miller and Maureen Miller. Connie was preceded in death by one daughter, Vicki Felmey and son-in-law Kermit Felmey, Jr., brothers Marvin and Ivan Miller, sisters Erma VanHorn and Patsy Royer; and brother-in-law Robert VanHorn, Sr.
Connie was a member of Winfield Baptist Church. Earlier in life, she worked at JPM and as a cook at the New Berlin Elementary School. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, quilting, and entertaining friends with assistance from her devoted husband. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was always a joy for her. She volunteered her time in many capacities, including hosting Good News Clubs for local youth and Bible Studies.
Public viewing will be conducted at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, PA on Friday, March 27, at 1:00 p.m. with service following at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Cory Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the New Berlin Cemetery. Donations in Connie’s memory may be made to Winfield Baptist Church, 330 Route 304, Winfield, PA 17889. The family would like to express their appreciation to employees of the Oak Glen Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care and kindness shown as they cared for Connie.
