Charles Byerly, Jr., 94, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Polk Personal Care Center, Millersburg, PA.
Charles was born in Harrisburg, PA to the late Charles and Evelyn (Ossman) Byerly.
He was a 1950 graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School. Charles retired from Brubaker Tool after 37 years of service. He had his own tool shop and was a very knowledgeable, talented and skilled machinist and was known to make parts and fix almost anything to be better than when it was bought new!
He was a long-term member of St. Paul’s UCC in Urban, PA. Charles was a Korean Conflict Veteran serving 17 months in Korea and a member in many community organizations.
Charles is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Schlegel) Byerly whom he would have shared a devoted and loving 74 years of marriage with later this year, his daughter Cynthia Byerly of Northumberland, PA and his son Curt (Jessica) Byerly of Elizabethville, PA. Charles adored his two grandsons Chase and Cole Byerly and was very proud of their accomplishments and looked forward to their visits and stories of their travels and activities. We would also be amidst to forget to mention the joy and love of his pet Boston Terrier dogs over the years.
Charles is survived by a brother, Larue Byerly niece Denise (Rick) Welker and many more family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Ethel Byerly and Patricia Szives.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family with final resting place at St. Paul’s UCC cemetery, Urban, PA.
The family would like to thank everyone at Polk Personal Care Center and Homeland Hospice for their kindness, outstanding care and love provided to Charles and his family.
