Carmaletta Elizabeth Taylor (nee Varner), 96, formerly of McAlisterville PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Rolling Hills Manor in Millmont PA.
Born January 25, 1929, to Beulah Varner; she was raised by her grandparents Simon and Laura Varner in Mifflintown.
“Carmie” is survived by two sons, Ralph E. “Tim” Taylor of Gainesville, FL and Donald L. Taylor and wife Joyce of Berwick; a daughter Patricia C. Bowman and husband Dan of Mifflinburg; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren.
She attended Juniata Joint High School in Mifflintown.
She was proceeded in death in 2020 by her husband of 71 years, Jack E. Taylor.
In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, she and her husband served God as missionaries in Haiti for a year, and in 1968 they sailed to Papua New Guinea where they labored to bring the gospel of Christ to people of the highland tribes who learned to love them. They retired from missionary work in 1997. Carmie was an example of service to God and to others.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill Street, Middleburg from 10-11 with the funeral service to begin at 11 am.
Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Fayette Township.
