Alice R. Hoffman, 93, of Mount Pleasant Mills went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 7, 1931, in Monroe Township, Juniata County, a daughter of the late Chester E. and Jennie E. (Hupp) Swartz.
Alice was a graduate of Fayette High School in McAlisterville.
On May 27, 1950, she married Rudolph J. Hoffman who preceded her in death on April 22, 2003.
Alice helped her husband with the operation of the R.J. Hoffman and Sons Lumber, Mt. Pleasant Mills.
She attended the Chapman Community Chapel in Port Trevorton.
Alice enjoyed doing embroidery but found her greatest joy in her family, whom she dearly loved.
Surviving are 12 children, Barry (Brenda) Hoffman, Daniel (Cindy) Hoffman, Stephen (Dorothea) Hoffman, Jonathan (Sherrie) Hoffman, Rosetta (George) Stahr, Deborah (John) Thomas, Anita (Joseph) Cawthern, Laura (Lonnie) Scholl, Rebecca (Douglas) Edmiston, Joel (Ginger) Hoffman, Allyson (Randall) Alderfer, Mark (Heather) Hoffman; one daughter-in-law, Linda Hoffman; 54 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren and four expected; one sister, Marguerite Kerstetter.
She was preceded in death by one son, Randolph Hoffman; one grandson; and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Gilbert, Oscar and Harvey Swartz; sisters, Marion Hummel, Gladys Kline, Beatrice Lawrence and Emma Swartz.
A viewing will be held on Friday, March 28, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Beavertown God’s Missionary Church, 1693 Creek Road, Middleburg followed by the funeral at 11 with Rev. Charles H. Melton officiating.
Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills.
